Why people why 09/02/2012

Now here is a question, why do people always have to open their mouth when they are rubbing their eye? Is there a link between the eye rubbing and the moth opening?

I was in the gym last night and got the most annoying feeling in my eye, I went to the mirror and there it was, the rogue eyelash making its bid for freedom. Unfortunately it got stuck in my left eye, a clear visible black hair against the clear white background of my eye. It started at the corner nearest the bridge of my nose and nearly went to my pupil it was huge. My first option was to rub my eye. This can be done I discovered with mouth closed. When I opened my eye the stubborn bastard remained lodged in there, laughing at my feeble attempts to remove him. Right you git I thought, this is war, me vs you and I was determined to win. All thoughts of my workout were put on hold whilst this battle of wills happened. As i went to touch my eye with my finger, my mouth, on its own accord just dropped open. There I was, in gym gear, shorts that are now starting to get a bit tight and a T-shirt thats once white sleeves are now a fetching shade of grey, standing in the mirror poking my eye with my mouth open.
Now I go to a new gym, it has only been open a couple of weeks and people are still regularly getting tours of the facilities in a bid to claim new members. When this particular group of people came up stairs to the area where I happened to be ultimately triumphing against the eyelash, they must have thought one of two things, either: 'no way am i joining this gym look at the type of weirdo's it attracts, that man over there is poking his eye with his mouth open and tongue lolling out' or 'this gym is caring enough to allow hobos to take shelter and perform their strange rituals, wow the streets must be tough.'
Now people I know that you have tried this whilst reading this blog and you have probably manged to keep your mouth shut, but that is because you have thought about it and purposely to prove me wrong done it. Next time you are getting an eyelash/makeup/bit of dirt out of your eye and you are not just rubbing it take a moment and I bet your mouth is open. That is the thought for today, tune in tomorrow for something new. Laters
